It is quite possible for black mold to be growing in your house without you even knowing.  Black mold grows best in warm places and it needs other bacteria that are in constant contact with moisture to grow.  Your bathroom, basement, and kitchen are three of the best places for black mold.  Allergies and respiratory illnesses can be caused by black molds. So you don’t want to leave mold untreated.

There are many ways to get rid of black molds without using toxic chemicals.  Toxic chemical help to develop respiratory problems.  Non-toxic chemicals are better to be used, especially in a room with babies.  Here are a few non-toxic chemicals which you can use to eliminate black mold in your home.

Vinegar

Vinegar is a very popular household cleaner in most homes.  Using vinegar to kill black mold is very effective because of the mild acidic substance that it contains.

Depending on how much black molds that you need to treat, pour the necessary amount of vinegar into a spray bottle.  Don’t add any water.  Spray the vinegar onto the surfaces where the black mold is, and leave to dry for about one hour.  After the vinegar is dried, wipe the surfaces dry with a dry cloth.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen Peroxide is not only a part of first aid kits. It can also be used to do many things around the house. The anti-viral/fungal/bacterial solution it contains, will kill all the black mold in your house.

Hydrogen Peroxide 3% concentration, is the one you should look for in the store to purchase.  There are other percentages, but 3% is the best one that will eliminate the black mold.  Pour some hydrogen peroxide into a spray bottle, and spritz the affected area.  Let it soak for about one hour. After soaking, scrub the area to remove all of the black mold. Wipe the surface thoroughly to remove any residue that was left behind.

Baking Soda

Most households have a box of baking soda. Maybe it is in the kitchen/pantry or bathroom cabinets. This mineral powder can be used to kill the black mold in your home. It is a safe solution for your family and pets.  It also helps to absorb moisture to keep prevent mold from showing up at all.

One-quarter of a tablespoon of baking soda can solve your black mold problem.  Add the baking soda to a spray bottle filled with water and shake vigorously.  Spray the black moldy areas with the solution, then use a scrub brush to remove the black molds. After scrubbing, rinse the area well with water.

All of these ideas are non- toxic solutions to eliminate black mold.  They are very safe to be used in your home.  So if you have black mold surfacing in your home, try solving the problem with things you already have on hand.
