Ticks and fleas… What annoying pests they are! These little insects are so small, but they can cause serious health problems to your loving pets. But you can prevent them from causing your precious pets any discomfort. Instead of buying those dangerous and expensive chemicals which may cause side effects to your pets, why not try some homemade D I Y products?

There are many things in your house which you might not consider that they are very good at making DIY tick and flea repellant to control them getting or staying on your pets.

I will be giving you some very useful tips on how to control these annoying pest on your pets. Don’t think about the cost of buying these items, because you might have them already in your house.

Remedy #1

1 Large Lemon

1 Quart Boiling Water

Lemongrass Essential Oil

Citronella Essential Oil

Clove Oil/Cedar Wood Oil

1 Cup Vinegar

Slice the lemon into thin slices and pour the boiling water over it into a container. Leave it overnight. On the next day, strain the lemon water into a glass spray bottle. You may now add:

10 Drops Of Lemongrass Essential Oil

10 Drops Of Citronella Oil

1 Cup Vinegar

A few drops of either Clove oil or Cedarwood Oil.

Put in a spray bottle and keep refrigerated. Shake well before applying to your pets coat once or twice per week.

Remedy #2

You will need Castille soap, apple cider vinegar, and warm water.

This is an alternative tick and flea natural repellant. It has an acidic taste which makes it unpleasant to the likings of the ticks and fleas.

1 Cup Of Apple Cider Vinegar

1 Cup Warm Water (Or as much as needed to prevent irritation of your pet’s skin)

1 Oz Castille Soap

Mix all of these together in a spray bottle and leave overnight. Spraying regularly with this apple cider solution will help to keep these insects from taking over your little friends’ bodies. Never put vinegar alone directly unto your pet’s skin, as ACV will irritate it.

There is also another DIY solution that can be made to help prevent ticks and fleas from invading your pet’s life. That is vinegar and dish soap. This is very easy to make because you should have vinegar and dish soap already in your kitchen. Whatever amount you need just add, 1 part vinegar to 1 part warm water. Mix properly and pour into a spray bottle.

Whenever you are treating your pets,  I know for certain that you don’t want to be bitten by these little pests. Try wearing long sleeve shirts, long pants, and wear a pair of rubber gloves to protect yourself. Tie the pants foot around the ankle, so that they won’t be able to crawl through the foot of the pants.

There are also other things that you can do to keep away the ticks and fleas from your pets.

When treating pets, try to completely cover your pet with the solution you are using. Pass your finger through the fur, so that you will easily see if there are any insects left on him/her. And do clean pets bedding regularly.

Put a drop of apple cider vinegar in your pets drinking water. The skin of your pet will smell of the vinegar, so this is a great way to repel ticks and fleas from your pets. As I have said before, these little insects don’t like the smell, and taste of vinegar.

There are so many tips that I could give to you, but I am only sticking to the few main ones which can be easily made in the comfort of your own home. I hope that you will take good care of your pets, and don’t allow a tick and flea takeover on your cute little Fido.
